Class 5 Course Details

How long does the Class 5 course take?

• Once you have your class 5 Learners 2 Drive Well can help you achieve your goal of attaining your full class 5 Once you have signed up and paid the course fees you will be given the course study guides.
• Pre-course study, there are 2-unit standards that must be covered off:-

Work time/Fatigue/Logbook

• It usually takes 2 days to effectively cover the required material and undertake some practice drives. Depending on your experience and skill level we may be able to complete Assessment drive on the second day.
  Or we can book in extra time to complete your driving assessment

​How much does it cost?

If you supply truck ​(must be loaded to 50% of GVM)

• $969.57 plus GST ($1100.00 incl GST) – full course
• $839.13.00 plus GST ($950.00 incl GST) – if you can provide evidence that you have: completed a Class 2 or 4 Approved Course, and completed a Work time/Fatigue/Log Book unit (You must also show you have retained a good understanding.

If Drivetrain supplies truck an additional $350.00 will apply

EXTRA PRACTICAL TRAINING.

• Should you require additional time (decided by the trainer on the day, based on competency),the cost will be $210.00 incl GST per hour including truck hire.

There are many things to consider when taking before taking a Class 5 licence course, especially the prerequisites and how you can shorten the training:

• You cannot immediately earn a Class 5 licence without first getting a learner’s licence. There is a substantial difference between driving a civilian car and driving a full-size rig that weighs more than 25,000 kilos. The government recognises that you need to spend some time with the vehicles as a learner before you can safely drive them commercially.
• You can reduce the length of the course by covering some material earlier in another licence course, such as a Class 2 or Class 4 licence course with logbook training. However, you’ll need to express mastery of this information to join an accelerated class.
• The government requires that commercial courses include two standard portions of the curriculum: US 17577 (Operate a Class 5 Rigid Vehicle) and US 24089 (Work Time/Fatigue/Logbook). Both of these must also be completed before studying because there is plenty of material to cover during the main course.
